      Fall Rugby Need-to-Knows

      Level 1 - 15s - Hybrid Model: (only 5 spots available)

      Sept 16 Online (7 - 9pm)

      Sept 21 - in Brockville (10am - 4pm)


      Level 1 - 7s: (limited to 16 spots)

      Sept 15 - Elmwood School, Ottawa

      9am - 5pm

      Sunday, Oct 6 - Cornwall

      9am - 5pm


      Non-NCCP PD -

      Thur Sept 26 - uOttawa

      6pm - 8pm

      Scrum and Breakdown with Duncan McNaughton and Dave Butcher

      PD to be aimed at higher level u18 coaches, club coaches and those looking to develop more advanced understanding of the scrum and breakdown. Not for beginners.

      EORU Junior Rep 7’s

      The cost of the tryouts is $25. Players looking to play rep this fall/winter are invited to an evaluation session on the dates below.

      • September 6th: Twin Elm Rugby Park, Ottawa 5:30-8:00 pm

      • September 7th: Location: LaSalle High School, Kingston 9:30 am-noon


      Evaluation criteria:


      Players are welcome to come to either session or both for the evaluation process and will be evaluated on:

      • Emotional Maturity

      • Catch/Pass and Core Skills

      • Contact/Tracking

      • Technical Skills – Tackle, scrum, lineout, positional

      • Tactical Skills – Game awareness and playing in a shape

      • Decision Making

      We typically select 12 players per team along with 3-5 non travelling reserves.


      Requirements: 


      Players must be: 

      • registered with an Ontario rugby club.

      Selected players will be invited to participate in the Bellweather Sevens (October 20th) and interbranch competitions. Select U18 players will be invited to the NY7’s at an additional cost. 


      Training will be on weekends starting October 26th and run until December 8th at various locations within the EORU region from Napanee to Ottawa.

      Costs:


      The fees for the fall season have not yet been established. For reference, last year's cost for fall training was between $100-150. Those that attended the Bellweather tournament, there was an additional cost of $25 for tournament fees and lunch. The cost for NY 7's was an additional $800-$1000.
