What Happened at Twin Elm?

On August 28th, a fire broke out at Twin Elm Rugby Park.  The local fire service attended the scene.  The fire service has shared details here.

https://x.com/ottfire/status/2093385280774418852?s=46

The Twin Elm Board and local member clubs are now working with the authorities and insurance officials to determine the cause of the fire, secure the facility, begin cleanup, and assess long-term recovery efforts.  The fire started in the back corner of the building in a maintenance workshop room on th main floor that housed a garden tractor and equipment for the facility's solar installation.

The cause remains unknown.

On behalf of the Twin Elm board, the Blues ask for patience and support as the clubs and executive navigate this uncharted territory.

Please support our short-term fundraising event.

The local rugby community is hosting a fundraiser to help cover our winter expenses while the park is closed.  All funds will go to operations this winter.

When: Wednesday, Oct 21st, 7 PM

Where: 131 Catherine Street, Suite 200, Ottawa

What: Gather at a community and raise some funds.  Finger foods and cash bar.

Cost: $25 per ticket

We are asking all Blues and friends of the Blues to support this event by buying tickets and attending if you can.  Just buying a ticket or two will help.

Let's show how the Blues rally and pull together when needed.

Twin Elm Community Skills & Volunteer Registry

How else can you help?

As part of the TERP Fire Recovery subcommittee, we're identifying and capturing the details of people in our clubs and community who have skills and resources they would be willing to contribute to the recovery and long-term rebuild.

Please take 2 minutes to review, add yourself to the list, and share it with others you think might help.  It’s going to take all of us pulling together to navigate this and come out the other end stronger and better than before.

Please register here now!
