2026 President Message
2026 President Message
Welcome to the Bytown Blues Rugby Football Club!
I've been part of the Blues since 1998 — as a player, a coach when my daughters came through the club, and more recently as a referee around the city. Rugby has given me a great deal over the years, and like many of you, I feel a strong responsibility to give back to the game and the community that has shaped us.
Now entering another year as president, I'm proud of the progress we've made together and excited about what lies ahead. The Blues have always been a club built on commitment, camaraderie, and a deep love of the game — and we're continuing to strengthen that foundation across every part of the club.
Our focus for 2026 is simple and deliberate:
- to grow the club, support our players and coaches, and continue building a culture that people want
- to be part of — whether that's on the field, on the sidelines, or behind the scenes.
A key part of that growth is continuing to invest in grassroots rugby. We're expanding our presence in elementary schools across the community, helping introduce young players to the game early and building the next generation of Blues. Strong clubs start at the grassroots level, and we're committed to growing the game from the ground up.
Across all programs — minors, juniors, senior women, and senior men — we're seeing strong momentum. This year also marks an important step forward for our senior men's program with the addition of a dedicated 3XV side. This team creates space for both emerging players and experienced club members to play, develop, and stay connected to the game — bringing together youth and experience in a way that reflects what our club is all about.
At the senior level, our continued participation in the Ontario Marshall Championship League brings top-level rugby back to Twin Elm. Home game days are something special — a full day of club rugby, with teams travelling from across Ontario and our entire community coming together to support the Blues.
Just as importantly, we're continuing to grow our broader club community — our alumni, parents, supporters, and volunteers — who are the backbone of everything we do. Whether you're returning to the club or joining us for the first time, there is a place for you here.
I encourage everyone to get involved in whatever way they can — playing, coaching, volunteering, or simply showing up and being part of it. That's how strong clubs are built.
We've created something special here.
Now we continue to build.
I'm looking forward to another great season — see you at Twin Elm.
Advance.
