Mens Pre-Season Training

With the almost summer weather here we are now into the pre-season training mode. Anyone in the club is welcome to come and participate as it will be mostly handling, fitness, and a little bit of contact basics. The next 2 sessions are as follows:

May 2nd: Tuesday evening 630 to 8 pm at Vincent Massey Park

May 4th: Thursday evening 630 to 8 pm at Vincent Massey Park

President’s Message

We are looking forward to another exciting year ahead for the club, in 2017. Our 1st and 2nds are looking to defend their Super League Championship, and win the playoffs as well. Every year the depth and talent of our senior men’s squad improves. This is evidenced by our representation on that other Blues’ squad; we had four individuals playing with the Ontario Blues in 2016; Ryan Surgenor, Myles Dingwall, Pat Lynott and John Shaw.

And we start 2017 in the same direction; with Ryan Surgenor and Pat Lynott being selected for the Ontario Blues vs Old Blue New York match on Saturday, April 29th, well done lads! Let’s keep the ball rolling, Blues signup and show up to training! Tues & Thursday night (Vincent Massey Park until Canterbury is dry enough)

Senior Men Registration

So far only 16 senior men have registered, and your 2016 registration coverage (club paid) expired this past Sunday. You need to be registered to practice or play. You put the other players at risk by not being registered.

We play Ajax this Sunday at Lester B Pearson High School (details to follow).

Availability is done through Team Snap (Email info@bytownbluesrugby.ca for the invite link)

The Blues 3rds:

Only have time for a few matches?

Family, or work, commitments making it hard to commit to a 10 game season with travel?

Can’t find the time to make practices, because the ‘honey do’ list is getting long?

Feeling a little woozie under the effect of odoriferous diapers?

Wish there were some local rugby to fill in that void you have?

Well, the best Rugby Club in Eastern Canada has your back; we have the programme just for you!

The Blues 3rds!!!

Once again we are rekindling the Blues 3rds, to play in the EORU Division I league. They will play 10 league games; and will be in a ‘central’ division playing with Indians II, Wolves and Petawawa. They will have home and away matches with those teams and cross over match with Brockville, Lanark, Cornwall and Kingston.

3rds is a great way to stay in the game, play some fun, challenging and LOCAL games; with 7 of the 10 matches being played in Ottawa. 1 of the 3 away matches will be for Kingston’s 50th anniversary bash on July 8th (so all three sides will be there)!

For this reason, we have added a new senior men’s registration category, ‘3rds ONLY’ of $250, plus online fees.It covers just the cost of playing and doesn’t cover travel or Blues shorts/socks.

The deadline for Blues 3rds only fee is May 13th, we need people signed up to run this squad!
