Rugby Canada Looking For New Talent Leading Up To 2016 Olympics

Posted on:

With the inclusion of rugby 7’s into the Olympic program beginning at the Rio games in 2016, members of Rugby Canada’s High Performance Department will be heading out to cities around the country and looking for new talent to add to the development program. One of the cities included in this fall tour will be Ottawa, which is perfect for any Bytown Blues member looking for opportunities to play at a higher level.

The purpose of the session will be to search for highly motivated, athletic, and resilient athletes aged 15 and up to start training in our National Sevens Development Program.

Testing will involve the following:

  • 10m, 30m, 40m sprint
  • Broad Jump and Triple jump
  • Small side games – no contact

The Ottawa session will be held Sunday, October 26th at the University of Ottawa. Registration will be held at 8am, with testing running from 9am to noon. For those that wish, you may register online at the Rugby Canada website.
