The Bytown Blues Junior Winter Rugby Program

Posted on:

The Bytown Blues Junior winter rugby program is officially off the ground.

We have been able to secure Dome time at the University of Ottawa, Lees Avenue Campus. The Ottawa U Dome is now up and running.

The Blues U16 coaches, Bob Shaw, Kerry Labine, Kevin Smith, and Jim Shaw will be running the winter program.

We look forward to working with the players from both the U16 and U18 teams from last season. We would like to keep the momentum from two outstanding seasons moving forward,  if you played Blues U16 or U18 you are welcome to attend the winter program as well, even if you are not U18 in 2014.

We intend to work on all individual skills – ball handling, passing, running, tackling and kicking. We also plan to incorporate unit skills – attack, counter-attack, scrummage, line-outs and restarts.

We will be getting a head start on the 2014 season.

For the U18’s we will be preparing for the April game with the touring side from New Zealand. As well, for both teams, we will be preparing for a repeat trip to Toronto to play Balmy Beach and watch Canada host Scotland (in June).

This would also be an excellent opportunity to introduce some of your high school teammates to club rugby, or just practice their rugby skills.
