Ottawa’s Bytown Blues’ Robert Ashe named McGill Athlete of the Week

Posted on: November 14th, 2012 by Bytown Blues RFC

Ottawa’s Bytown Blues Rugby Club has a well earned reputation for attracting and developing excellent young athletes. Over 30 of the central Ottawa rugby club’s players have been recognized for their quality of play by being selected for regional, provincial or national team representation in 2012.

Add Rob Ashe to the growing list of Bytown Blues that selectors will be keeping an eye on in 2013. Ashe, one of nearly two dozen Bytown Blues players playing university or college rugby this fall, has been named the McGill Athlete of the week.

Ashe, an impressively fast 6-foot-2, 180-pound winger with the men’s rugby team, scored five tries as visiting McGill routed Bishop’s 76-15 in a Quebec university semifinal in Lennoxville, Sunday.

The win qualified McGill for this week’s RSEQ league championship game, slated for Sunday (1 p.m., SSN), at Concordia. Ashe, a 19-year-old accounting sophomore, is a product of Asbury College in Ottawa
