Bytown Blues Update October 29th 2019
Posted on:First off – Huge Congratulations to our u17 girls 7s team as they went to Barrie for the provincial championships on Sunday. We have a report from Rupert Bonham-Carter:
“Our U17 Girls headed to Barrie this weekend to compete in the Barrie 7s Provincial championships. We faced a very tough pool in the driving rain and battled in all three games, alas coming up short. As the rain broke we moved on compete in final game to end the tournament and the season. The girls decided to go out and win or loose, have fun, play for each other and leave it all on the field. Our focus for the season has been to commit to winning ball at the breakdown, especially at the ruck, and build our game around this. When the final bell went we had won 24-20 and secured a win for our final game at provincials. The team were all winners today, not only in that last game, but also with the honour of representing our club at provincials. It’s a big deal, and they can all hold their heads high and feel great about this team and their achievements this year. Selecting a player of the tournament is always hard, especially with this team, but for her consistent gutsy defence, line breaking runs, our player of the tournament in Rachel Steel. Every member of this team made great strides in their rugby development this year and the future of our junior girls program looks bright.”
