Blues Statement on June 16th Incident

“To all Blues supporters, players, parents, coaches and managers an incident occurred this past weekend at Twin Elm during the junior games on Sunday which needs to be addressed.

An individual who volunteers assigning referees for our matches was treated inappropriately as they were trying to work out ref assignments for the ever changing junior games at EORU.

While the identity of the person or the club they represent is unknown, I would like to remind all that they are volunteers and are doing their best to adjust to circumstances out of their control. Let us treat them with respect and kindness as without them we would have no games.

On behalf of EORU, and our management teams, we apologize for any inconvenience that the rescheduling has caused. It is due to a couple of club’s dropping out at the different age grades at the last moment. We are trying to readjust as quickly as possible.

EORU sets our schedule and we have had to adjust and react to the changes.

On the more positive side, it has been a great start to the junior season with our U11 – U17 boys and girls teams on the pitch.

Jim Shaw
Bytown Blues RFC – President”
