Attention Blues Junior Players: Eastern Ontario Rugby Union 7s Trials Start This Weekend [Update]

Posted on: July 5th, 2013 by Mark Ward

Update: The start times for the trials have changed.

With the inclusion of rugby into the Olympic program in 2016, there has been more attention given to the game around the sporting world. Both the men’s and women’s national teams played sublime rugby at the recent Rugby World Cup Sevens in Russia, and it was seen on televisions across the country.

Looking to the future, the Eastern Ontario Rugby Union are hosting the EORU 7’s trials this Friday at 10 am at South Nepean Park, located at 700 Longfields Drive. The session will continue until noon. Another trial will be on Sunday, July 14th, from 11am to 1pm.

These trials are open to all eligible U17 players, born in 1996 or 1997.

The selection committee is in the process of selecting 24 players (2 teams of 12) to represent EORU for the Provincial Championships, being held Aug 9-11th.

Greg Thaggard will resume the role of head coach for the EORU 7’s program again this year.

For any questions regarding the trials, contact Gary Thomas at menelite@eorugby.com.
